The Story That Led to Java Acupuncture

Did you know Dr. Taylor spent her early years on the street with her hard-working parents? She received so much kindness from strangers and friends who ensured the little kid was never hungry. She has commited to pay it forward for the kindness she could never repay. When you trust our clinic with your health, you not only choose the best of the best practitioners in the Bay Area, you also support organizations that provide jobs for underserved communities, Thanksgiving dinner for 200+ homeless every year, job opportunities for many, and women's health support and supply for young girls in Africa. This clinic is where we can start to make a difference. It can be something more. Much more meaningful. We're growing and spreading health, kindness, love to others.

Interesting fact: Java is a name of a programming language. Java also represent coffee. Dr. Taylor used to be a software engineer and she loves coffee hence the name Java for our clinic

Dr. Linh Taylor, DTCM, LAC, EYT, CMTPT/DN

Why did you become an acupuncturist?

I get fulfillment from human interaction, and I feel a sense of purpose from helping others to be happier and healthier.

Are you a doctor?

I earned my master and doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I'm also a primary care practitioner in the state of California.

Who Is Your Provider?

Patients can expect that I will take the time to listen to their concerns, show empathy and compassion, and thoughtfully incorporate their priorities into the care plan.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do for fun?

I love rock climbing and yoga. I enjoy cooking and spending time with my husband and our two daughters. In my spare time, I studies dissections, research different health conditions, devour all things anatomy and pain science. Since I don't watch TV and most days I don't know where my phone is, I spend lots of time cuddling up with a book or two every week. I usually read 40-60 books a year.

What are your favorite ways of staying healthy?

I do my best to aim for moderation: keep my food exciting and rainbow, a combination of grains, vegetables, protein and herbs. I rest when I'm tired and exercise when I'm energetic. I try not to stress out about things that won't matter 5 years from now. I laugh often and find lots of fulfillment seeing patients and caring for my family.

Where is your hometown?

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I came to America when I was 19.

How would your friends and family describe you?

They’d describe me as someone who is always curious, fun, focused, nonjudgmental, and will always be there for them.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. In high school I fell in love with computer and programming. When I came to America, I couldn't afford medical school so I chose computer science. I got asked often if I love medicine more than computer science. I love both. Though I feel more fulfilling being a doctor and get to meet new people daily and help them feel better. I'm excited to go to work every day. I love what I do very much.

What's a piece of advice you carry with you? And who shared it with you?

My dad taught me that I should never nurture or prolong sickness for financial gain. Being a doctor is like being a parent, do our best to care for patient, be there for them and help them recover

What are your top achievements?

I'm not sure if it's a top achievement in anyone list. But I'm proud of myself and blessed that I was able to wash dishes, serve table, and worked full time to pay for my education. It's a dream come true to be the first in my family finished highschool and college.

What else would you like patients to know about you?

Your story and health are safe with me. I want to know what brought you here. I'm not judgemental, I listen deeply and care for you where you're at. I want you to know that you're not broken. I'm here to help  trace back history, figure out the why and how, help you feel better, and send you out with tools to maintain your best health.

Finding Yourself & Success Redefined w/Linh Taylor, L.Ac"

...Like a winding conversation on a road trip, we explore the topics of redefining success, challenging beauty standards, simplicity and fulfillment, healing through Yoga, practice management wisdom through the lens of service and community, and provider collaboration as a model of integrative medicine.

Dr. Linh Taylor, Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine

Pelvic Floor Acupuncturist, Certified Dry Needling Therapist

I grew up in Southern Vietnam, where Vietnamese and Chinese herbal medicine and dietetics were essential to my upbringing. But it wasn't until my older daughter, Sydney, was diagnosed with autism that I became interested in learning Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. This amazing medicine has done a miracle for my daughter's indigestion and insomnia.

I hope I can offer you the same effective care. I will listen carefully to your condition and create a practical treatment plan for your lifestyle. I'll ensure you feel safe and well during treatment.

I'd like to share a little about myself if you're interested. Growing up, I competed in soccer, hacky sack, and martial arts, so I understand how important it is to keep our bodies strong and our muscles supple. I have my fair share of injuries from taking care of my special needs child, who is almost as big as I am. I feel your ache and pain and the long nights you care for your babies. I can help. I've also been an avid rock climber indoors and outdoors for 18 years, teaching yoga for 14 years, and treating injuries and chronic pain for over 30 years using Shaolin martial arts channels and fascial techniques I learned from my master, Thay An (Teacher An).

I'm forever grateful for Thay An & Thay Kim, Steven Woodley, Sean Si, Julie Zhu, Nick Hancock, Robyn Sodders, Aaron Lee, Jamie Hampton, Josh Lerner, and many more, who have taught me almost everything I know. My father, who passed away, advised me from a young age that when I become a doctor, I should treat patients from the heart and never nurture illness.

You wouldn't believe how many times my dad went to see a doctor and came home with medication that had their package removed; he had no idea which medication he was taking and how long it would take him to recover. He returned to his doctor weekly. I will keep you informed about what I'm doing and my treatment plan. I'd never give you an herbal prescription that you need to take for months or years. My mission is to get you well and send you back out to the world of joy, family, and friends. Please don't go and party too hard, though.

As much as I love being in this community and sharing my love of medicine seven days a week (I really do!), I take much-needed time off Saturday and Sunday to be with my young daughters (10-year-old Sydney who inspired me to acupuncture and 5-year-old Emily). They grow up too fast! I love food and coffee (hello, Java!) very much.

I specialize in pelvic health, neuropathy, pain and aches during pregnancy, and chronic fatigue.
